Magnificent Hellenistic Ptolemaic Period Red Slip Oil Lamp, an exquisite example of ancient craftsmanship from Ptolemaic Egypt. This mould-made terracotta lamp, covered in a rich red-orange slip, dates back to the Hellenistic period and showcases the sophisticated design and practicality typical of ancient Egyptian daily life.
The lamp features a double-convex circular body, smoothly transitioning into a long, tapering nozzle with a rounded end, elegantly designed for precision in oil flow. Slight angles at the junction between the body and the nozzle add a subtle touch of architectural charm to its form. The filling hole is thoughtfully crafted, marked by an inward-sloping band framed by an outer groove, ensuring ease of use for refilling. Good condition. Age-related wear and light abrasion. Smoothed surface with light deposits. Nozzle had even traces of soot. Gorgeous patina. Size approx. 7,6cm x 5,2cm x 2,5cm.

Returns and exchange will be accepted within fourteen days (14) of receipt at the purchaser’s cost to include freight and packaging.
