This remarkable mould-made ceramic oil lamp, dating back to the Hellenistic Period of the Ptolemaic Dynasty (c. 300-50 BC), is a stunning example of ancient Egyptian craftsmanship. Originating from Naukratis, Egypt, the lamp features a beautifully crafted double-convex body with a long, flaring splayed nozzle, gently curved at the tip, and showing traces of ancient burning, a testament to its use in antiquity.

The round reservoir, designed with a central filling hole, is framed by a concentric ring, adding a touch of elegance to the functional design. The front of the reservoir is adorned with a delicate incised volute design, a hallmark of Hellenistic artistry. Excellent condition. Intact. Age-related light wear and minimal abrasion. Mineral encrustation, soil and dust. Nozzle had even traces of soot. Gorgeous patina. Size approx. 8,5cm x 6,3cm x 2,5cm.
