Charming and heavy traditional bronze vessel, Karuwa, from Newar culture, Kathmandu Valley, Nepal. Traditionally, the karuwa was used in village temples and house shrines for storing and pouring water during hinduistic and tantric ceremonies. Karuwa is required in various Nepalese rituals, events and festivals. It is used in various functions such as weddings, Bratabandha, Pasni etc. In Newari culture, Karuwa is worshipped on the day of Mha Puja, alongside other household utensils and appliances. Karuwas have a curved body with a delicate spout that protrudes from the side to allow for easy pouring.
Small-sized cast bronze Karuwa of flattened and spherical form with low ring foot, lovely gadrooned sides, an everted lip around the mouth, with short baluster-form spout. The rim and neck are incised with delicate concentric circles. Age-related wear and signs of heavy use over many years. Excellent dark smooth glossy ritual patina. Size approx. 10,0cm x 9,0cm x 7,5cm.

Returns
Returns and exchange will be accepted within fourteen days (14) of receipt at the purchaser’s cost to include freight and packaging. Items must be returned in the same condition as when they were shipped, and will not be accepted if damaged or altered in any way.
