Early Qing dynasty, 17th century, China.
Fascinating stoneware blue and white round seal paste box, heavily potted with a thick glaze to both the interior and exterior. Central peony design framed by sweet pea flowering vines in strong underglaze cobalt blue. Good condition. Age-related wear and minor abrasion. Crazing. Footring has kiln grits. Fritting and glazing flaws. Unclear character mark. Size approx. 11,1cm x 11,1cm x 6,5cm.
