Qing Dynasty Kangxi Blue and White Porcelain Strainer Bowl

A superb and finely potted blue and white porcelain strainer bowl from the illustrious Kangxi period, painted in a rich underglaze cobalt blue. The bowl displays delicate pierced work to the base for drainage, surrounded by elegant hand-painted decoration characteristic of the refined artistry of the imperial kilns at Jingdezhen. The smooth translucent glaze, crisp potting, and rhythmic brushwork embody the technical and aesthetic perfection achieved during this period.

The Kangxi reign (1662–1722) marked one of the most celebrated eras in the history of Chinese porcelain. Following the revival of the imperial kilns—neglected during the late Ming decline—production flourished under imperial patronage. Both for the domestic and export markets, Kangxi porcelains were admired for their purity of material, sophistication of design, and brilliance of execution. The blue and white wares of this period, often animated with courtly scenes, floral arabesques, and medallion motifs, reflect the confident elegance and enduring legacy of Qing artistry at its height.

Excellent condition. Small chip in the rim. Light surface wear consistent with age and use. Size approx. 19,6cm x 19,6cm x 5,5cm.
