Viking Age, c. 793-1066 AD, Scandinavia

A stunning and rare Viking Age bronze alloy penannular omega-type brooch, featuring a free-moving central pin seamlessly connected to its elegantly coiled circular body via a loop. This exquisite piece is not just a functional garment fastener but also a symbol of status, wealth, and Viking craftsmanship.

Brooches of this type played a vital role in Viking society, serving as tradable commodities, adornments, and even grave goods to accompany the dead into the afterlife. Designed for both men and women, they were typically worn singly—men at the shoulder, women at the chest—with the pin pointing upward. The penannular design allowed for secure fastening of cloaks and garments, ensuring both practicality and style.

The Vikings, renowned for their seafaring, raiding, and trading prowess, adorned themselves with finely crafted jewelry that reflected their status and cultural identity. This brooch is a remarkable testament to their artistry and legacy, making it a must-have for collectors of Viking antiquities and historical treasures.

A rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of Viking history
