Viking Age, c. 793-1066 AD, Scandinavia
A truly magnificent and exceptionally rare set of Viking Age textile fragments, featuring original bronze ring decorations. These remarkable remnants offer a direct connection to the craftsmanship and daily life of the Norse people during the height of their legendary era of exploration, conquest, and trade.
Fashion played a vital role in Viking society, reflecting status, wealth, and regional identity. Woven by skilled women using locally available materials such as hemp and flax, textiles were both practical and decorative. Vikings of all social classes adorned their attire with jewelry, including rings, beads, brooches, and amulets—often doubling as status symbols and functional fasteners.
These textile fragments, woven in a coarse tabby pattern, would have once formed part of a Viking garment, possibly a cloak or tunic, enhanced with bronze rings for added embellishment. Artifacts of this nature are incredibly rare, making them an invaluable addition to any collection of Viking antiquities.
A must-have for serious collectors and enthusiasts of Viking history—own a tangible piece of the Norse world.
